Anyway, I do that in the past to promote astro in Singapore. Now many of you already got fancy scopes....no need for me to be too kind anymore...
:D
HI Vince
That's why its called "tradition"...a practice that goes on and on..
I still waiting for you to "try out" an N8 :-)
Anyway, I see David and Chung Hooi has shown interest, so your ota will be sold soon?
Good luck on your sale...

Shoelevy : Vince's OTA is an 8" SCT...LXD55 SC-8.

Ok must sell. Here are some pictures:

The purplish-blue coating of the UHTC.

The above picture shows the specially machined fine focuser for the scope. The focuser is super smooth.....most Meade's scope has tight focusers, the celestron ones are too loose......this one here is just right. The fine focuser itself cost me an additional US$40.

Not shown in the picture above is the finder and the Orion flexi dewshield. The dovetail plate will be included.

The optics in this scope is very very good. Once you got it collimated, the in-focus and out-focus patterns are almost identical. I wished Meade would be more consistent with their optics with every scope being like this.

Price as I said, is SGD$1100. You work out the sums yourself and you will know that this is a bargain. Included free is the focuser and the dewshield.

The first person to show me the money will get the scope.

And here is two shots of mars through this scope. One taken by a digicam and the other one by a webcam without the IR block

I have not received any firm offers for this scope......which is a pity

If I still don't hear from anyone..I will put it in Astromart and hopefully sell it to Europe. UK is selling this used for 500-600 pounds, so US$550 should be super cheap for them.

Guys...

There are few enquiries pouring in this afternoon. However I will be negotiating with Kay Heem first. He is the first to approach me. If he doesn't want it, I will open the sale for bidding. Highest offer secures. I think this is the fairest considering quite a number of interested parties.

Richard, no..I will not be selling the mount yet. As you know, my LXD55 mount is a hypertuned mount by lxd55.com. Works like a champ. Furthermore, I have thrown the aluminum tripod into the jungle because it's a piece of junk. I replaced the tripod with a portable pier (US$180) which makes the mount a zillion times more stable.

If I am selling the mount, will let you know.....but I would most probably keep the pier.
