The sky was clear yesterday after months of political clouds :) So I had a chance to test planetary eyepieces. The photo shows the lineup:
WO UWAN 7 mm
Circle-T Ortho 7 mm
Tak LE 7.5 mm
Televue Plossl 8 mm
Meade UWA 8.8 mm
Circle-T Ortho 9 mm

The eyepieces were tested by 7 people on the moon and Saturn. The homemade TMB 80/480 Powermated 2.5x were used as the test rig.

Viewing comfort:
Meade8.8 > WO7 > Tak7.5 > Or9 > Or7 >> TV8

Sharpness and contrast:
Honestly, we couldn't see difference at the first glance. TV8 secures a place above other eyepieces. TV8 is slightly sharper than the others. I saw no lateral color in Or7 and Or9 as opposed to the review by other CN reviewers.

Price ratio (compared to Ortho (US$35 in Japan))
Or7 and Or9 = 1
TV8 = 2.5
Tak7.5 = 5
WO7 = 6
Meade8.8 = 6

Additional comments:
I realize that the U-shaped undercut used in Or7, Or9, and TV8 may get stuck with a compression ring when removing. The flat barrel (Tak7.5) or V-shaped undercut (WO7) work better with a compression ring.

My verdict?
If you want to see good planetary views, the Ortho is more than adequate. You pay the extra for viewing comfort. It is the conclusion that has been drawn by many people so far :) Seeing is believing.

Clear skies,
Anat
