Lol... why? You want to see what the guy next to you is doing as well as what's in the sky?

Heh... what an excellent idea! Actually, I was just wondering if it can be done technically?

I do not think a 180 degree eyepiece can be done with current technology. The angles are just too extreme! It is not possible to have parallel rays out of the eyepiece at 90 degree half angle unless the design is very radical and different from any current eyepiece design.

Tachyon, should have given the order placement to you for the MACH1GTO, when it was time to place payment in February!

Can't understand all this waiting for a telescope. What do they do? Wait for the lens to grow and mature? its totally unforgiveable for a company to make their customers wait so long for a product. In 2-3 years, new products that are better and cheaper could have appeared as is the possible case now. I think such companies deserve to lose their customers...
By the way, the Televue EP is huge too. Very soon the eyepieces would be as big as Milo tins and the scopes size would have to be increased to take it...I will call these herschelian scopes... :D

weird thing is, people are still waiting for the AP. The list just gets longer.

I think most people buy other scopes first while waiting. And if one day AP gives them a call, they just sell away what they have and buy the AP scope.

If you say the TV eyepiece is huge...wait till you see this:
http://www.williamoptics.com/eyepiecesD ... 8_spec.htm

Weight is 'only' 1kg (about 2 pounds) and the physical size is that of a tin. :P

Anyway, with a AFOV of 100 degree, a lot of eyepieces can throw away. For low power, this eyepiece will be the best because of higher magnification while retaining the field of a lower power eyepiece. This would just 'thrash' all the other eyepieces out there that has smaller AFOV when come to contrast and resolution for the same field. A 13mm Ethos will have the same field as a 26mm Plossl and its contrast due to magnification is surely much better. There is just no contest.

Tachyon,
My scope is only balanced for my 17 Nagler which is about 725g. It may not be able to balance with that eyepiece which weighs 1000g. However, it could balance if I add the counter weight. Next time borrow from you to try. Haa.
