Thanks Tungkiantungkian wrote:hi airconvent, the astrotech voyager alt az is just the rebranded GSO alt az mount that i posted a short review with pics on a few weeks back..try searching for GSO altazimuth mount on the forums..
I found the post and shifted it to the "review" section. Do upload more pics so we can compare this with the porta-mount.
cheers!

Once again, off topic- I just got the Astro-Tech Voyager in yesterday (I purchased it as a NEAF demo at 20% discount and they shipped it to me free (nice!). I already have the Porta mount with a TV-76 on it. The Porta is good, but it is let down by a very weak and inadequte tripod. With the legs extended, the Porta is quite a bit shaky. I asked the Vixen rep at NEAF about it and he shrugged his shoulders and said they were trying to maintian a price point and a sturdier tripod would be more expensive. Which is strange becasue both the Porta and the Voyager are made in China. The Voyager is bigger and has a sturdier tripod and it was, until recently, so much more cheaper than the Porta! I guess Vixen takes more margin than Astro-Tech.
Anyway, I will test out the Voyager and share some thoughts. My intent for getting the Voyager was to be able to use my Traveler for a quick grab and go scope. The Porta would have been quite stressed carrying the Traveler.

My astig is quite bad so for a 13mm ep, it definitely needs correctionCanopus Lim wrote:CC,
What's your astig level? For 8mm with a f/5 scope it will give an exit pupil of 1.6mm.
From my own experiment based on my eye of astig 100 (diopter 1.0), 2mm exit pupil is the max that I can use without wearing glasses. Therefore if your astig is 100 or 125, you will not need to use Dioptrx for the 8mm Ethos.
