Jeremy wrote:Nice sky. But I suppose we had better not ask why it's called "Snake Valley" ;-)

Go well!

Don't worry Jeremy.
We don't have many snakes. In the 7 years I have lived here I have only seen 3.

The town is called Snake Valley due to the shape of the creek that runs through the valley [smilie=good-job.gif]

Nice image, Ken. I can see the coalsack so clearly!
From our perspective, your crux is tilted 90deg clockwise...hahaha
Must be alot of fun with dark skies and good views of the LMC and SMC

omg that's a horrible sky?

I wouldn't dare go Australia in good skies then.. this "horrible sky" already took my breath away..

By the way, how long was the exposure for that horrible sky? I can't figure how you can capture the sky + the fence so clearly together.
Stargazing ... is an excuse to stay up past bedtime that never fails!

No, that image above is on a fairly good night. It was the night that Remus was here that it wasn't too great even though he thought it was fantastic LOL.

The above image was 3 x 20 seconds at 800 iso. There is a very slight bit of star movement.
I took it from about 30metres from the sign but zoomed all the way in. The foreground looks bright but there was only parking lights from my car shining on the area, and the car was about 40metres away!!!

Equipment's finally all in one piece and working fine...had to ship some pieces separately.... otherwise had this problem with excess luggage....and thanks to Mike for helping out too, yeah, Ted as well!

Do take care guys!

Clear skies always!

Haha, the haze is all over here right now. This morning I just woke up to a very "foggy" surrounding. It's glad to hear that you've settled down nicely over in Australia and got into action with Ken. Good luck for your work as well ! (:
