why don't you try astromart? you can get a similar condition C8 for S$900-S$1000 shipped to singapore (fedex) inclusive of the taxes. look for those with more than 10 stars rating.
you can get C8 at this price in astromart?

Let's see...a typical C8 used in astromart is US$450. Shipping and insurance Fedex is about US$200. GST is 5% of US$450 = US$22.50. You add all in is US$672.5. That's about SGD$1143 at least because you still have paypal fees to pay if you are using paypal or other fees if you are using TT or bank draft. That's also provided the owner is willing to sell overseas in the first place since this kind of scope can be easily sold to any Americans.

But this scope is not similar condition with typical C8. This is a UHTC scope which normally fetches US$550-US$600 for one.

So you go work the sums.

my c8 costs:
OTA = US$425 (after bargaining)
Shipping Fedex & Insurance = US$125 (secure double box)
GST = US$21.25
Paypal fee = US$0 (the seller didn't intend to withdraw the money, he'll use it to buy other thing, so no 3% charge)
Total=US$571 (S$980)

However, IMHO, Vince's scope is really a steal at S$1100, pls maintain the tradition :D

Don't think so lah ..... a good condition C8 is selling at an average of $640, lowest I can find is $575. Lets take $575USD as an example, add another $100 for shipping, it will come up to $675USD x 1.7 = $1147.5 + 5% = $1204.85.

Then I see someone selling a cold 1976 classic C8 for $750. Those are just Celestron. A Meade is more expensive then that.

Can't really find one of those you had mentioned.

Hi all,

Ok, Kay Heem has told me to pass on the deal.

Ok..currently I see three interested parties

1) Choong Hui
2) Blur block
3) John Teh

My reserve is at SGD1100. PM me your possible highest offer. Both (1) and (2) is willing to meet the reserve. I am not too sure about John.

Will decide by end of tommorrow. Whoever bids the highest gets the scope.

OK, in case anyone is wondering why I passed the deal:
I have not seen the scope, but it was with great reluctance that I let it go as I did not manage to sell my 10" dob. I could not convince my wife to let me keep 2 scopes of moderate aperture. It would not be fair to VinSnr and the rest to make them wait for me to sell my dob first.

Rgds,

Kay Heem

Hi,
I'm really interested in your Meade 8" SCT... but how heavy is it?? I'm using a GP mount and I don't know whether can it take the weight of the Meade 8" SCT. I'm very serious in getting your scope... I'm prepare to sell my two pentax xl to finance for the scope.

Have a nice day.
