in my experience the accelerometer in iPhones and Android phones simply lack the resolution to be a serious DSC.
the 3-axis digital compass/accelerometer chip (Asahi Kasei AK8973) used in these boxes only has 8 bits of resolution so it can't even give you 1 degree of azimuth accuracy.
not to be a party pooper but just pointing that out..

But that's an ST 80. With any of the longer length EPs he'd easily get more than 1deg, even with plossls

no worries, notice the finderscope is still on. also, with Skeye, there ability to "calibrate/zero".
specifically, the purpose is more to guide me around sky, since I am a noob.
I will feedback on how well it performed.

Parts:
1. obtain phone mount from
DSL Development. Depending on how far you want to go, you can either get just the mount of a barewire 12v supply.
This is for Milestone 2.
2. depending on what you are mounting the whole thing to. My clamp mount for the ST80 has a 1/4" threaded hole.
So I use a RAM mount system
1. UNPKD. RAM 9/16" BALL W/ 1/4"-20 STUD
2. RAM Double Socket Arm for 0.5625" Ball Bases
3. UNPD RAM 2 7/16" X 1 5/16" BASE W BALL
end result

ps. mine are the B series clamps, which are bigger. though with handphone, u really only need the A series clamps.
likewise, if you so chose to, you can potentially mount bigger items on, even Ipads. Just need to use longer clamps.
