You're really nicely along Kaomoo! Do keep the juices going and going!

BTW, OT : Is that Mot (now called Goodle!) Droid ? It looks very much like an old portable PC named OQO that I have seen years back.

just field tested (and fed my local mozzies)

conclusion.
1. GET A FREAKING AZ-ALT mount. Ball mount ain't for telescopes.

2. not bad! brings ALL objects within finderscope. I can point the scope and the stars and peep at the screen to see what it is. Located Altair this way.
gave up coz really hard to balance the scope on ball mount :p

Hm! I didn't realize that the phones have enough resolution to bring objects into the finderscope. I will have to reconsider my previous conclusion that the AK8973 is a piece of cr*p....

Hi Kao Moo,

I am also surprised that your mobile can be used as a finder. Stuart once tested similar system before using a rich field refractor and I think it was not up to expectation

stuart was using an iphone.. maybe the moto uses a better chip than the asahi-kasei.

actually there is no reason why this won't work -- the celestron skyscout / meade mysky uses exactly the same technology. i'm just surprised that it has worked for Kao as well as it has..

to be honest the testing wasn't exhaustive. Trying to work the ball head was. ha ha ha ha. Plus due to cloud cover, everything is near zenith and it was killing my back and neck..... anyone keen to give it a whirl?
