Hi folks,
I have come up with a simple proposed write up for this event. I intend to put it up at Hardwarezone and sgforum. I was wondering if anyone here is can help me check through for errors and provide any recommendations. Weixing, are you willing to allow me to put up this advertisement on the forum, need you to vet it. Kelvin, I used 2 of your pics to illustrate the astro activites in Singapore.
I did this write up as I received feedbacks from my non-astro frens that the original one is too technical for them to understand. Just hope that mine can serve as a simpler supplement to the non astro oriented folks.

Hi,
Opposition is not closest to the Sun... in this case, it should be "Earth is between Jupiter/Uranus and Sun. Jupiter/Uranus are relatively closest to Earth during this period".
I'm fine with you posting this on other forum if acc give the green light.
By the way, I'll move the discussion posts to the old Opposition(to be rename as same name) thread. For discussion and idea for the event, please also post on this thread to keep the announcement thread clean.
Have a nice day.

I also agree not to mention galaxy base on the same reason.Clifford60 wrote:I don't know whether it is good to mention Galaxy? The public may be disappointed when photo / TV show and actual is miles apart. Also the name of the object may be too technical for general public.

Hi fizzy
Thanks for volunteering to publicize the event. Write-up is ok but please help to change the following sentence "...and be enchanted by the mysterious of the night skies" to "...and be enchanted by the night skies".
cheers

Hi,
Anyway, NPark already book the venue for us to use and will conduct a site survey with me sometime next week and I'll disscus the lightings arrangement with them.
Have a nice day.
To cut the story short, NPark(Riverine Parks division) didn't do any public publicity, but an internal one as their main objective for this session is to introdue Astronomy to their staff. The bad news is that they inform me yesterday that due to shortage of man power on another event on the same day, many of them might not be able to attend.raychan wrote:Does Nparks hv any public relations Dept? If yes, maybe can go thru them.....

Thanks Weixing for working hard with NParks to organize this event.
Those who are concerned about insufficient publicity can help by distributing the excellent write-up that Fizzy has attached earlier on in this thread.
In any case, this event is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the night sky with fellow astronomers and for newbies to sample an exciting line-up of equipment.
If you are bringing telescopes (big or small), please do help to update the equipment list here:
