Hi guys,
Except the Starville condo, are there any other condos or hdbs (doubtful) that allow access to its rooftop? i'm looking for a new place to rent (whole flat), preferrably east area.
cheers,

Rooftop access
Re: Rooftop access
your best bet is to look for new HDB blocks that are not yet occupied. They normally don't lock their roof access.ariefm71 wrote:Hi guys,

I was doing that at Ponggol last year until they finally lock the top.
But I tell...it's not pretty up there. Many water tanks, pipes, holes and everything. Got to be very careful. It's not a flat place. Not for people who are afriad of heights.
But you have to note that at the rooftop, the wind is strong. If you are using a alt-azi mount, make sure the mount is strong. Tracking it by hand while the wind is blowing and vibrating your scope is not a fun thing to do.
And when u see lighting far away....please get off the roof no matter how pretty the sky is.

Wah..vince..be careful man...what if they locked the door while you are still up there...no one can hear you scream! Also, work site is inherently risky as nothing has been accepted yet, so anything can give way...remember nicoll highway?
anyway arief, not sure if this is what you want but the Esplanade has a nice flat and clean rof you can access as long as you don;t mind sharing it with dating couples! I was there 2 nigths ago and while the light pollution is significant, at least you get quite a wide view of the sky.
Also, do you know where SAFTI MI is? Opposite its main entrance is a minigolf course and a coffee shop. The roof of the coffee shop is accessible via ramp and its not bad as long as you go later when the stores have closed. Else you will have cooked food being pumped through the exhaust vent.

actually if really want dark skies, high roof top view, go NTU Nanyang House. The roof top is the stargazing venue for the astro society. When I was the President there then, I always got access to the top. Wish I had duplicated the key to the top just before I graduate...arrghhh!Airconvent wrote:Wah..vince..be careful man...what if they locked the door while you are still up there...no one can hear you scream! The president should be Shu Xuan unless she has handed over to a new president...Samuel or Wee Kiong should be able to link up with her...VinSnr wrote: actually if really want dark skies, high roof top view, go NTU Nanyang House. Hmm.... I was thinking if anyone got guts, can try the area near live firing area. The areas near Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Bahar is super dark in the nite, but going there in the nite can be really spooky. I remembered once, on a veri clear nite, I managed to catch a faint glimpse of the milky way, and the M42 was veri prominent( like 3D), while I was digging in
. I tried to peek at it with the nite Hawk, but
alas, it is not a real 'scope' for astro, thus the view is not impressive. :?
