Unedited Solar Images from Jan 2012 onwards

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Hi Lee
You are welcome.;in fact feel a bit lonely as not many are interested in the sun......due to the intense heat.
Anyway ssunspot 2192 is shrinking; but weaker flare comes back.;by the way there was a bright light bridge seen on the major spot of 2192 .
Interesting
.

Hi,Alfred
You are most welcome and thanks for the photos.....they are great. They clearly show the active sun.....the 600000 km filament and the lighting core of sunspot 2192.Fantastic photo Alfred.

As for today,I did a full day watchout for flares etc.The interesting thing is the constant glowing lightbridge at the core spot of 2192 at 640 nm.Photo taken

Monitering of the sun continues. At 10am today,a straight 'cloud'
approx 400,000km to 600,000km was again seen at the outer fringe of sunspot 2192.It disappears in around 40minutes time. Its
visible at Ha bandwidth 0.9A but not at 540nm
.......clearly indicating that its a gas ejection of fantastic proportion.
Also the glowing lightbridge between the two core of sunspot 2192
continues.Fantastic and interesting sight

Hi Mr Chia,

Thanks. Caught the Sun before the clouds and rain came out to play.

You are right about 2192 - it is shrinking but we never know if it will spring a surprise before existing the center stage :)

Hi,Alfred
Thanks for the photo....as can be seen the core spot of 2192 has changed greatly......from a 4 pieces thing to a two piece core by 1600 hrs today.Great detail in your photo.
On the other hand, I again saw a approx 400,000km gas ejection from 2192 at 16:35 which disappears completely at 17:15.This clearly indicates that much can be from 2192 later....hence will continue to moniter 2192.
Hi,Gary
Can contact me so that I can submit the photos.thanks.

Hi,All those interested in the sun
My flare detector detected a flare....at least M7 or above in the region between the two major spot of sunspot 2192. (AT 08:21 THIS MORNING)It look like a lightning flash initially then slowly contract in size to a small earth size glowing spot.Unluckly then clouds set in.By 9am when I get a
chance to look again, its all over.
Photo taken.By the way you are right Alfred ..
.more can be expected from 2192.

Hi,Remus
Yes,I work quite hard, esp the 540nm scope to enable the seeing of
details and it paid off.I was able to see that
the lightbridge of 2192 was glowing brighter than the rest of the sun.Amazing sight.

Monitering of the sun continues today.Nothing much happen except
the fact.....the lightbridge at the major spot of 2192 glow more stronger and now also in Cak and Ha
In fact it seem to flare there...not strong....around C class
By the way, the flare I detected yesterday is confirm to be M7 or M8.
