Shots taken with: Canon 500D Filter Mod. Vixen GPD2 Mount un-guided but polar aligned with
digital level meter for the Y - aix. But for Z - axis using 25mm eyepiece, centre it to RigelKent by djusting the mount AZ knobs only - not scope. (Mechanical method in place of Drift method)
Exposure: both image - ISO 800, 60s X 20 shots combined, no filter. - Meade 80 mm ED.
Stray light removal: play around with the Intensity / Contrast / Curve to optimize.

Hi, nice attempts Peter! Looking forward to more of your images.
Do you need help with the 450D?

Re: M16 and M17 attempts from Tampines
Thanks Kelvin, yes - i need some help & guidance on the EOS modification.
i. how to eliminate dust from the sensor ? It seems to always attract some when exposed in free air.
ii. cold finger installation to sensor, is it slightly easier than the filter mod ? i had eventually killed the 450-D by breaking 1 flex print, so now thinking of getting another pre-own unit to try may be just the cold finger mod alone, it is more important mod than the IR-cut to me for NGC 6744 & M101 use.

Hi Peter,
Yes those pesky dusts on the sensor can be a real 'sticky' problem. Dust blower wouldn't do the trick, I use lint-free sensor wipes couple with Eclipse cleaning solution. And you need to go over the surfaces many times to be sure it's absolutely dust free. A 'clean' environment will help a great deal, a dose of vacuuming your table will certainly help.
About those ribbon cables, they can really get on your nerves, some are very difficult to get to. Most Internet instructions about the mod took the short cut way by just removing the back / LCD cover, as a result, some cables are difficult to access because they are tucked a very awkward corners. Try removing all the covers, you will find that the modification is a lot easier.
Btw, I am in the mids of modding another 450D for a buddy, you can come over to my place if you are free.
