"View new posts" feature: suggestions

Hi Administrators, I would like to suggest two changes relating to the "View new posts" or similar function.
First, would it be possible to make "View new posts" appear at the top of every page in the forum, esp for the front/home page, even for those public viewers who have not signed in? Carole mentioned to me recently that she has found it a bit difficult to follow the recent postings or happenings on the forum (since about 1-2 yrs ago), as there are so many different topic sections; therefore she does not check it out as much as before.
Second, for the "View new posts" function which does appear for logged-in members, it only seems to show the links to about 3-4 posts (see screenshot example below). Can this be increased to say, 30-50?
