Hi,
Saw this Vixen new product image in Vixen website:
Look really like the Pentax 100mm SDUF... may be Vixen coming out their own version of the Pentax 100mm SDUF. Below is the image of the Pentax 100mm SDUF.
Have a nice day.

Hopefully a 4 element Pezval at f/4.
and as good
Wonder how it would compare to the Canon classic daytime 400mm f/5.6
According to this test it perform extremely well with a crop camera for astrophotography.
cheers

Vixen bought the Pentax designs for the 125SDP.
Probably Ricoh was not interested in continuing to hold on to the Pentax IP for telescopes.

No wonder the design looked so identical. I guess its like Lenovo buying IBM's thinkpad series. Let's hope that Vixen will keep the Pentax brand flying high for astronomy as Ricoh has done for their cameras. Maybe call the Vixen-Pentax...

100mm F/4 looks good.
What's the backfocus like? Enough to accomodate a small filterwheel?

Re: New Vixen Scope - Vixen version of Pentax 100mm SDUF??
I've lost track of the number of times I've nearly bought the Pentax 100SDUF II. I have the 75SDHF and the 125SDP. Despite having the Borg 125ED/2.8 (which has a mask for use @3.3), and other lenses and scope/reducer combos at this focal length, I'll probably give in and get this PentaVixen.
The Japanese site has "VSDF100F3.8 - this autumn/fall". From memory, it looks like a slightly different optical design to the Pentax SDUF. Think I'll check my docs when I get home.
The V-SDP125 image above looks pretty much identical to the Pentax 125SDP. I wonder how much they'll charge for it? The list price for the 125-SDP was very high - over 900,000JPY. It was available for less than this on the street, but generally more expensive than the TOA-130 (4" focusser version). When you consider the cost of the Tak 67 flattener, it evens out a bit, but still, it was pricey.
The higher end Vixens aren't all that much cheaper than Tak equivalents, but if they could do the 125SDP around 5-6K or so, I think they'd sell a lot. They provide a very large, very well corrected and illuminated image circle - best of any I've seen in this class.
