OK, so the VSD100F3.8 is 5 element: http://vixen.co.jp/lp/vsd.htm
The SDUF was 4 element.
According to the site, there will be a .79 reducer for 300mm f3.0, and a 1.58 extender for 600mm f6.0. Exciting times.
New Vixen Scope - Vixen version of Pentax 100mm SDUF??
Re: New Vixen Scope - Vixen version of Pentax 100mm SDUF??
Missed the English site that Antares posted. It's pretty much the same as the Japanese. The comparison is of the 5 element design versus a 4 element design (presumably the old SDUF design). Looks like an impressive improvement.

I've asked a store-owner in Japan about this scope. No details on price yet. The scope is supposed to be available sometime in November. No details on the reducer and extender.

Ouch, pricey. But those spot diagrams look worth it.
If they do the 125SDP, it will most likely cost even more.

Now accepting pre order
Price in US is USD 6299.
Ahem wonder how it would compare for astrophotography to a Canon 400mm f/2.8 L mk 2 one fstop gain but at USD11k.
Cheers

Re: New Vixen Scope - Vixen version of Pentax 100mm SDUF??
Judging by the spot diagrams, I'd expect the Vixen to be much better. Also, it covers a medium format sensor, obviously the 400/2.8 does not. I've not seen much use of the 400/2.8, and recall reading a few negative reviews (off-axis coma, CA). There's also the fact the "T-ratio" of dedicated astrographs is usually better than lenses...

BTW I ordered one of these a couple of weeks ago. Expected delivery is early Feb.
