Has anyone tried or tested the Astro 60D?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Hi Liquidice, has not own or used one but has some idea of it, Astro 60D is well cooled, as there are some data (not sure of the source) showing that for every 5.8 deg C dropin temperature, the dark current reduce to half, hence it should be very much quieter than an un-cooled DSLR say 60Da. But un-less you like to take dim objects, you might not see too much difference between the two. The Astro 60D need to run on a high ampere 12V DC source for its Peltier cooler (not just simply embed a piece of heat sink into the cam), so you have to take this into consideration for traveling use. As for FSQ-85ED, in my opinion it is a good Infant stage, Beginner, Intermediate and Advance scope, very much desired by APers and those who love to show off (just kidding)..

Liquidice,

FSQ85 is too good a scope for beginner.

Meaning if you are not certain you going to stay with imaging long term, perhaps should refrain spending so much as a start.
However, if you don't mind to spend so much (have not count in expensive Tak adapter...) then FSQ85 is an excellent scope for astrophotography. It is not so portable for travellin because you need to factor in the mount and Ctr wt and battery pack when you take it to remote site.

FS-60 CB is a also a very good scope but you might feel that people may laugh at you for using such a small scope. It is a real beauty, I would not care less people laugh at me.
The FS-60 CB truly a very good scope for travel use.
Performance is top notch and with Tak system build for this little giant, you will not find another match.

If you using DSLR as a camera for AP, my opinion is don't waste money on cooling it.
You can still take reasonable night sky photo with it uncooled.
There are other factors you need to knows about how to get a succesful Astrophoto.
Post processing is also very important.

And finally hope you find your best scope.

Best regards,
