Nikon Monarch 5 8x42mm binocular

Post by Gary »

Anyone have any experience with the Nikon Monarch 5 8x42mm?

Official website: http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/Niko ... s-Overview

What caught my attention is the combination of phase coating + ED lens + dielectric coating + water/fog proof for a relative low price of USD$300 (before shipping).

According to some reviews and opinion online, some say ED lens may not give much visual difference for such small lens (i.e. no big deal), phase coating seems to give more dramatic improvement. I don't see huge visual improvements for my dielectric vs normal star diagonals.

Perhaps the combination of ED + dielectric may make a significant visual difference than just phase coating alone.
