Re: My Astrophotography Journey
Bought a Sky-watcher Star Adventurer mount recently and took my first picture of M42 over the weekend. There are lots of pollution here and I had to lower the ISO and exposure. Hope to be able to find time to go to a dark site and have a go at it again.
I tried stacking but someone the stacked image doesn't appear to to be better, in fact it was less sharp after post-processing. Any idea why?
There is also some halo and like to know how can I prevent that?
Not as good as the ones seen from the many experts here... hopefully a pass for a beginner??!! Let me know how I can do it better...

Here's another M42 taken at much darker site. Photo taken using Canon 6D, 200mm lens on my Star Adventurer mount.

Thanks for sharing Hong Joo. I was out on the rooftop having an impromptu observing at my place too last week and the best image I saw was Orion Nebula!

Re: My Astrophotography Journey
Nope. That's NGC1977. Horsehead is probably not going to be quite visible without dark skies or strong filtering. It also lies outside this field. You should look for Alnitak if you want to see the Horsehead.heyjojos wrote:I have a newbie question.. is the top right corner the horse head nebula?

Great effort and nice skies too !
For your photo, would be better if you stick to something at least 300K in file size. Pushing it down to 23k leaves very little detail.
Cheers

Re: My Astrophotography Journey
Are u referring to any specific photo? I used the 'Img' function for my posts. The original files should be much larger than 300k but it may somehow be converted to smaller file size when I post?Airconvent wrote:Great effort and nice skies too !
