Hi guys...

Here is the gearhead that is ever popular in our astro circle. Think most of us here use this head as a alt-azi mount on camera tripod. Mine is as good as new....used very little.

You can reserve this at Cathay Photo for $200 odd dollars (and wait 2-3 weeks).... or you can get it from me now at $160.

I have no use for it now.

Hi VinSnr,

What tripods can the head mate with? I would like to get one but I need the tripod as well.

It's a standard head.....can be mated with most camera and video tripod.

It mates with a tripod using a standard 3/8" thread. However, it works best with a Manfrotto tripod as they use 3 retaining screws so that the head cannot be accidentally unscrewed.

Sorry to disagree, Rich. The Manfrotto 055 is sturdier.

hi kay heem
yes ...i know, but the 055 has clumsy leg extensions that may hurt your fingers and is heavier. Chri's ETX90 ota would certainly not benefit from the additional capacity....
hence the 190d is more ideal for him...plus its cheaper...$110 vs $200 for the 055?

[Off Topic]

last known price, $110 for 190d, $180 for 055cl. price isn't the main consideration here. main thing would be ur height and the weight/bulk of the 055cl.

the 055 would work for most people with just 2 sections extended. the 190d would need all 3 sections extended. taller people might lean towards the 055.

the 190 is much shorter and lighter than the 055, but i doubt much people would have trouble moving the 055.

anyway, i believe most people who got the 190d for their telescope will have desires about owning the 055cl.

Thanks Mooey for the reminder. We should not hinder Vin's sale here.
if we want to continue this discussion, let's do it in a new thread under "equipment discussion" instead.
