SOLD : Orion 80ED Apochromatic Refractor
Posted: Mon Nov 15, 2004 10:05 pm
Hi all
After Singastro 2004, my previous big aperture bite mark is acting up again...
Thinking of selling off my apo refractor to finance the new 8" scope.
In case you don't know, the Orion 80ED is the most affordable Apochromatic refractor available today designed for astronomy. (Celestron has a smaller ED model for spotting scope use.)
Here is the website for info :
http://www.telescope.com/shopping/produ ... uctID=6306
It provides true colour free views of the moon and other bright objects. I personally used it to view the Veil Nebula in Mersing...great scope and extremely portable. I have it packed all the time and it can be a grab and go scope.
For registered users , you can read Vincent Senior's review here :

Else can try here :

I'm selling only the OTA package as follows :
1. 80ED Apo OTA c/w with 2" to 1.25" adapter, Crayford focusser, built-in dewshield
2. Nice extra "padded" Sling bag to carry the scope.
3. No Diagonal or finder included. (as was the original package)
The scope is in excellent condition and was even collimated by Vincent Senior previously. If you can't afford the thousands of dollars to buy a similar aperture Televue or Takahshi, this scope is ideal for you. Good for astro photography too.
Selling price is $950 negotiable. if you agree to the asking price, I will throw in the following :
1. 20mm long eye relief 66 deg FOV eyepiece
2. Brand new un-used Tube rings if you don't intend to use the scope's tripod screw hole. These are worth around $100 if bought separately.
Attached are some pictures of it (OTA and the carry bag).
Please PM me if you are interested.
Thanks for reading
Rich
