For Sale: Skywatcher 8" f/5 Newtonian OTA

Post by tanguan2001 »

All,

Having got my C9.25, I'm putting my trusty 8" Newt. up for sale.

Description:

Skywatcher 8" f/5 Newtonian OTA: S$550 (was S$650)

Specification:

Primary mirror diameter: 200mm
Focal Length: 1000mm
Focal Ratio: f/5
Secondary mirror holder: Four vane spider
Focuser: 2" rack and pinion with adoptor for 1.25"

Items Included:
1. Sky-Wacher 8" f/5 Newtonian OTA,
2. Tube-Rings with dovetail bar to fit CG-5 or GPD,
3. 9 x 50 Finder (wonderfully bright - I used it for starhopping!)
4. Skywather 25mm Plossl

Comments:
A few scratches on exterior of OTA, but mirrors in good optical condition. Holds collimation very well. Focuser is good enough for CCD work - rock solid when locked.

For images taken with this scope pls see the older photos taken on my website;

or for a specific image;

Note the mount is not included - that's been sold.

Anyone interested pls send me pm. I'm in the Braddell Rd area.

Thanks,
TG

What does it means by "mount not included"? Does it comes with tripod? Is this portable? Price nego? Thanks.

Kaki,

I'm selling just the optical tube assembly, ie tube, mirrors, focuser but nothing to mount it on - no tripod, no mount-head. I am including the tube rings and dovetail bar - the bits that hold the tube and will attach it to the mount.

To use it you'd have to buy a mount and tripod (ie will fit CG5, or GPD), or make a Dob mount.

You can see pictures on my website and decide if it is portable for you! An 8" Newtonian is actually pretty long and definitely not grab-n-go...but it does gather a lot of light...

Price negotiable still...

8" Skywatcher - price reduced and proceeds to be donate

Post by tanguan2001 »

All,

I have reduced the price of this item and decided that any proceeds from the sale will go to the Tsunami Disaster Fund.

Also, I will channel the donation through my company who will match the amount of any staff donation (but this closes 7th Jan).

Cheques to be made payable to the Singapore Red Cross Society....

All,

Just refreshing this post. The OTA is still for sale.

Note the proceeds will no longer be donated (done that separately).

I think you'll need an EQ5 - it's quite big - after all its purpose is to gather light!
