Nope. I usually use a small circular table, which is rather heavy and sturdy.

It is. The star guide is Tasco's attempt at a goto scope.
When Tasco bought over Celestron, they incorporated it into the Celestron line as a Nexstar 4. I'm assuming they did some improvements since its branded a Celestron scope...
When Tasco went bust, Celestron bought themselves out of the mess and is now back to being wholely owned. but they retained the nexstar 4 line.
