Another galaxy cluster - Coma

Post by tanguan2001 »

The galaxy cluster in Coma - v rich with almost all the visible objects being galaxies. Also take a look at the animation of data from the 2dF galaxy survey.

Colin,

Autoguide means that the guidescope tracks on a star and the guiding software send correction signals to the mount without my intervention. So it would be possible not to be at the scope at all.

In practice though, I run batches of 10 - 15 exposures and check for problems at the end of each batch (about every 30 mins). I also change the direction the scope is pointing at by a tiny amount each time to avoid any noise pattern buildup on the final stacked image.
