Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Hi,
If you are using a 2x barlow, get a 40mm instead of a 32mm, so that the power with the barlow won't overlap with the 15mm eyepiece:
40mm(with barlow):30x
32mm(with barlow):38x
15mm:41x
If you are comfortable with the eyerelief of a 8mm plossel, than it will be OK....
By the way, what mount are you using and does it come with a finder??

about mount.. my dad says he has a very gd n strong n sturdy (note: he say) camera tripod that i can use, but i havent got to see it yet. so see how, if it cannot make it, then i'll most prob get manfrotto 410 n one of its tripod (mooEy says again n again n again it's the best blah.. lolx). oh ya, wira sold to me together with the finder, cant thank him enough *THANK YOU!!* tak finder, its is very very very good, tried it before, very clear, i was very impress. it also comes with the tube ring and a sexy black sock that wira put over it to insert heating bag. haha

Hi,
The Tak FC-76 is quite heavy and seem like a 4", right... ???
Anyway, may be can ask you( actually your Tak FC-76.. ha ha :D) out for a observation session when the weather is clear... I think a strong camera tripod should do the job if it can mount on it.

That being said, once in a while I like pumping up Shell V-power into my car. But at other times, I just stick to plain ol' SPC 98! (Hmm, I'm bad at analogies)

No, I'm the complete opposite as far as petrol is concerned. I never pump anything better than 92 as my car would not be able to feel the difference which is entirely different from my experience with the Radian. I did not like the "space walk view" of the Naglers (and the price!) but wanted a good eyepiece with good contrast, high magnification performance,a reasonable wide view and bearing Al Nagler's trademark. I found that in the Radian series. most that have seen through it was impressed by its optics (for $430+, it better be !)
I thought apart from my usual collection, I should own at least one premium eyepiece for that elusive object in which I want to squeeze out the last bit of performance....with cloudy skies, sometimes need to indulge yourself in other ways.

starfirez wrote:ok.. thanx for all the advice.. by the way mine's a 2nd hand scope so don't think the clouds will be attracted to that haha (any clouds is strictly not my fault!!) haha yeah i got the fc 76 from wira *thanx dear~* and u guy's hints are..erm.. subtle haha. oh i'll wait till i get everything then i go add to the equipment list. hope that'll be soon. i'm thinking of maybe 32mm, 15mm, 8mm plossl abd a 2x barlow.. is it ok? but i guess i'll play ard with other people's eyepieces first (if they let me) and decide what i'm most comfortable with. wira ask me to get naglers haha but i don't have his kind of $$
so wira finally starting to sell his prized collection...
btw, if you can buy a Tak 76, what's a couple of hundreds more for an eyepiece befitting the scope???
Anyway, Weixing's suggestion is good. A few low mags eyepieces and a x2 Barlow to increase your versatility and since its a Tak, it should handle mags well above the "rule of thumb" of Aperture (in mm) x 2, seeing condition allowing, of course.

I will go with Weixing's suggestion too. Mabye replace the 3x barlow by another eyepiece and a good quality 2x barlow, such as the Celestron Ultima 2x barlow. Strongly advice against a Plossol with focal length less than 10mm due to the tiny pinhole lens and extremely tight eye relief. Happy shopping! :)

It's not THAT hard to decide actually.
Most of the time, economics solves the question for us before anything else.

I've discovered that sometimes you see/feel what you want to see/feel.
Especially after spending lots of $$$ on that expensive petrol/eyepiece/scope/car well, virtually anything.

Just to make yourself feel better. :o

It's like when you pump in shell petrol and tell yourself it's "better" than SPC, and in the process you pay like... 10% more for it... Just to feel better.

So usually I dun put too much store on "branded" stuff. Unless I've objectively evaluated it for myself. Of course, sometimes it's the passion one has for the item/prized possession that's important as well, so maybe I'm generalising too much! :D

So maybe I'm not in the "Televue too ex" Gang, more like the... "Still pragmatically evaluating everything and would rather spend my money elsewhere" gang! :)
