Total Annular Eclipse 2019

Post by Ishbiliyya »

On 26th December 2019, Singapore will be given an opportunity to witness a natural phenomenon that happened once in our lifetime. On that very day, the eclipse path will begin to sweep pass across the Pacific Ocean and cut through the middle region of South East Asia until it ends at the Middle East near the Gulf of Persia.

This annular eclipse will directly pass over Singapore at around 11.27am until 3.18pm. The Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre together with Ishbiliyya Books will be providing a free entry for the public to see the eclipse directly from the telescope without damaging their eyes due to the optical aid filter lens. This service is also to create an awareness to protect our eyes from the UV rays of the sun that can permanently cause blindness without using safety equipment when watching the eclipse during the day!

Hence, this initiative may benefit our heartlanders who may wish to see the eclipse together with their family, friends and neighbours. The last total annular eclipse in Singapore was dated back in the year 1850 and the next one will not be until in 2063, which is 44 years from now!

What are you waiting for? Come down and join us by experiencing the eclipse live together in our Yishun New Town!
