Hi all,
On behalf of SINGASTRO, would like to extend season's greetings to everyone! Wishing all a Joyous Christmas and a Great New Year ahead! May all have their astronomical aspirations fulfilled real soon, and for those who already did, extend your hearts out to those that are less fortunate. Remember, it is you, the members that make things happen! Thanks and good cheer to all!
In no particular order, my sincerest gratitude and thanks to the following moderators and astronomy ambassadors for making SINGASTRO such a lively and active online community for Singapore and the region:
Chee Chien (miss you!, better come back soon!)
Chris Yeo (thanks so much, especially in organising Mars Watch!)
Weixing (you're an inspiration that keeps everyone burning with fiery astronomy passion!)
Richard (you're like the astronomy glue that binds everyone together!)
Yong Quan and Weicong (many zillion thanks for keeping the forum running well and working hard to maintain status quo of the website)
and certainly not the last of all, the MEMBERS! Thanks! Keep posting, keep participating, hope to see you all in ASTROFOCUS and many more astronomy events to come!
Cheers!!
Clear clear clear SKIES PLEASE!
Remus

Thanks Remus and everyone for the Christmas greetings!
May everyone at Singastro have a happy and blessed Christmas. Best wishes for the new year, with lots of clear skies and meteor showers for everyone!
I was in Japan in the past week and a half. Took this photo of Orion and Canis Major through a hotel room window (was freezing outside) at Noboribetsu Onsen, Hokkaido (about 42 degrees north).
Canon EOS 350D, 5 seconds, ISO 1600, f/3.5, camera propped against window base.
Orion does look like a man standing upright from northern latitudes. Here in the tropics, I think it looks like some superman flying through the sky, with M42 as the exhaust.
