Buying stuff from AstroMart

Post by jermng »

Hi,
I just want to find out ... how do you guys convince sellers to sell to us in Singapore. So far, I have yet to get any astro equipment from any internet classifieds although I've got tons of musical equipment from US classifieds .. :)
There has to be a way ... so many nice stuff for such low prices ... but I can't get them .. really sad ... :)
I know alot of you have been trading in AstroMart ... :) Share your secret!!! ;)

Open a vpost account and tell the seller you're at CA 90221, or just tell me what you want and i'll get it for you.
Anyone wants a C9.25 OTA or N8i SE for less than S$2000 (shipped)?

I actually thought of Arief's idea of not saying I come from Singapore and ship direct to Vpost - tried to get an EP last night, but before I could tell him where to ship, he said he doesn't ship to Singapore. I think he saw my profile or something. It's really irritating.

Oh yah, Arief (or anyone else), how do you send payment if the seller doesn't accept paypal? Money Order? How does it work?

Thanks for your help! :)

Very often it depends how you communicate with him.

I often able to get them send me small items direct. Things like eyepieces or filters, if you go through Vpost, can be more expensive than if they send u direct via airmail. Furthermore, Vpost sometimes take a long time.

Next time do this. When you show interest to buy, offer them another US$10 and tell them if it is ok if they ship direct to Singapore via airmail instead. Very often, they will agree. If they don't, then ask them to ship it to Vpost address.

If they do not accept paypal, then go to PO and buy them a bank draft drawn in US dollars. Send it to them.

Hi, I got a bank draft drawn today for the seller but the Post office said it would take 9-12 days to reach the addressee. The next fastest way would cost ~$35 for a 3-4 day service. Is this normal?
I decided against getting the express cos I think it's way too much considering the thing I wanna buy costs less than $100.
Do you all normally use the 9-12 day service? Are the sellers willing to wait?

this morning i found out that my astromart account is blocked. astromart forced me to upgrade my account to "small atm/oem/dealer" status if i still want to retain my 47 five-star account.

from now on, i must pay $5 for every item i'm selling. That s**ks!!!
