It had been quite some time to see a large sunspot....... Especially for this solar cycle 25.
Except for around 3 sunspots all so far are small dots...... But now thing change.
Today 9 sept 2021
In 540nm
In the southern belt., at the outgoing edge is a single spot sunspot 2863,with a penumbra., then
Sunspot 2866 was huge..... around 110,000 km long and contain at least 4 large spots. In its vicinity are 2 more sunspot groups, one equally large and another consist of 2 small dot sunspot directly south of 2866.
In the northern belt is 2864.,lt looks similar to 2863.
In Cak
2864 appears as a dot with a long broken tail at least 300,000km long.
2866 and its 2 surroundings sunspots show up as bright regions. So is 2863.
In Ha, 0.5A bandwidth.
Correspondingly similar looks in Ha. However in the northern belt, following 2864 is a series of filaments., all quite short and at least 3 in total.
Also near to the north and the south pole of the sun, there is a medium size prominence.

11 Sep 2021 - Finally caught some sun today.

Image

Photographed sunspots AR2866 and AR2868 with a 11" SCT in Hydrogen-Alpha wavelength. The special filters showed the sunspots and activities in the Upper Chromosphere. This pair has been actively ejecting flares. Considering the Sun is 150 million km away from Earth, I am always amazed by the clarity of the details in the image.

12 Sep - Lots of clouds. Good to have some small windows for imaging. Today's focus is on the gigantic prominence in the North-Eastern limb. This prom is about 24 times the diameter of Earth!!

The next image provides more details on the chromosphere

Cheers.

This is the actual colour of the upper atmosphere of the Sun, illuminated by red light emitted by hydrogen atoms. I used a 656.28 nm hydrogen alpha etalon to filter out all the other light and capture the features lighted by the red light.

Image

This image was taken by an ASI174MC camera and not a pesudo colour added to a BW image. So it should be quite close to the actual colour of the Upper atmosphere of the Sun.

Thanks for your compliments, Warp 7.

The posting at https://solarchatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=33334 has attracted several positive comments and a Solar Picture of the Day

I believe we should be seeing more solar activities.

Thanks, Mr Chia for your kind words. Here is another image from the same 11 Sep session. This is a close-up of AR2868:

Old sunspot AR2860 is returning after a 2-week transit around the far side of the sun. Per tradition, it has been renumbered AR2871. It has returned after a two-week trip around the farside of the sun. During its previous appearance in late August, the sunspot produced 1 M-class flare and 21 C-class flares. Since then, the sunspot's dark cores have diminished, but it has been accompanied by a storm system with an air of menace. It exploded on Sept 23rd (0442 UT), producing a strong M3-class solar flare. On 24 Sep, it continue to have a 'delta-class' magnetic field that harbors energy for M-class solar flares.

This is where it is on the solar disk (From Spaceweather.com)

I caught these 2 zoom-in images of it with my C11 SCT in hydrogen-alpha wavelength (looking at the upper chromosphere of the Sun):
