Sun today
3004 is a sunspot with lots of crack like bright streak And
Now both the northern and southern belt are filled up with filaments. All are long and one is especially fat. Pls use a double stack Ha filter.

Re: Solar cycle 25
Hi All
Some had wondered why l stop observation of the sun.......no l didn't but stop posting because l observed that those descriptions can easily be seen at solar and heliosp observatory site on spaceweather.com. So no point duplication.
However what's not indicated there is the prominence and filaments situation on the sun.
Hence l will still observe with the DOUBLE STACK and indicate when the filaments and prominence become interesting.
So still happy observing.

Hi All interested in the sun
As normal take a look at the sun early morning in Ha double stack.....for normal descriptions in ha,cak,540nm you can look at spaceweather.com.
Now the filaments situation
Almost the whole of the northern belt filled with filaments. Even regions above the belt in the north got quite some.
Half the southern belt are active, but no long filaments.
As for prominence
Relatively short prominence and more in the north than the south.

Hi All interested in solar
Want to draw your attention to a photo posted on spaceweather.com on the 12 Dec 2022.
It summarise the sunspot whitelight image for the year 2021 and 2022.
As l had said most of the sunspot are small when compared to the previous cycle of 24.
Does that mean a difference in solar outputs? or particles emited from the sun?
