I have just voted under "migrated from Yahoogroups forum".

Some history: I joined Singastro when it was founded by Remus on 19 Feb 1999 as an eGroup ("Free Web-based e-mail group"). Mine was the 5th post on the forum and the 3rd person to do so. Haaaa...

Then eGroups got renamed as YahooGroups (where Singastro still exists technically) when Yahoo bought it. I later migrated to this website in 2003. I think (am not sure) that the inspiration for the Singastro eGroup forum was the sci.astro.amateur Usenet Newsgroup which was the main int'l/US amateur astronomy forum in the 1990s. So Singastro was the first Singapore-based astronomy internet/email forum.

As I recall, I actually "met" Kay Heem on sci.astro.amateur when I did a search on the Celestron C-5 in around 1998/1999.

Hi Gavin,

Yup, I remembered when you contacted me about the C5. Did you call or email me? That was a loooong time ago! :-)

My 1st post to the yahoogroups was 19th post to the group.

Actually, I found out about Singastro from CN. I remember CC was the person who told me about it.

So which category does this belong to?
[80% Steve, 20% Alfred] ------- Probability of Clear Skies = (Age of newest equipment in days) / [(Number of observers) * (Total Aperture of all telescopes present in mm)]

Hi Kay Heem,

Ya, such a long time ago! I think I emailed you as your email address was on the s.a.a. group. Then I met up with you at your flat in the East to have a look at your wedge or something for your C5 (black Celestron G5 actually) and Jeff (Hommel) was there too. He had an ETX90 RA then. Also one of the earliest posters to Singastro on the eGroup/yahoogroups.

Time really flies...in those days having a C5 was a big thing. And astro was also a lonely hobby back then. I first met kayheem was to pass him my telrad. Can't remember what I was doing at kayheem's place when i met gavin there.
