I did not see the scope but from the newspaper picture, looks like a 60mm aperture to me. For $49.90, definitely expect plastic optics.
While it did not make those famous Tasco claims like x525, its advertised x175 is still stretching its 60mm aperture somewhat. I would think the scope would break down at x 80.....
If you want a Christmas toy for a child /yourself, this scope would be good at looking at the moon...
