Hi,
WX, Jack's selling his right?
Yes, I know (anyone want a CG5-GT mount??). But his HP number is no longer in use... may be he change his HP number, so I already email him. Put up this post just in case he already "get rid of" his 8" 5 Newtonian or there are better offer.

Anyway, not urgently need to get it as I'm still in the process of getting rid of other big junk in my room to clear up some space, so hope that no one will compliant if I bring back a big "pipe"... :P :P :P

Have a nice day.

WX,

In 2 years' time, you should be able to apply for a 3-room HDB to put all your stuff in. Maybe you can also rent out storage space for the rest of us! :)

WX,

If you get the 8 inch f/5 newt, you will be the next Singastro commando!

OT: Yes, high floor and window facing open sky. Add temperature and humidity control to one of the room and rent out for Singastro member to keep and use their "mistress" so that actual wife will not complain.... haha

Yes, we are all guilty of hogging astro equipments. Especially when 'aperture fever' sets in. Hee....Hee...

Weixing, check first the weight of the 8" newt. I believe the tube is made from steel (not alum), it maybe heavier than my 10" carbonfiber newt. Why not the R200SS or 8" SCT?

The 8" F5 Newtonian OTA is around 7.5kg. How long is your previous 7" Newtonian??
Why not the R200SS or 8" SCT?

Limited budget. A 8" F5 Newtonian is the cheapest option at the moment. Anyway, when I got the resource and confidence, I may convert the 8" F5 Newtonian to a 8" F4 Newtonian.. :)
If you get the 8 inch f/5 newt, you will be the next Singastro commando!
Hmm... transportation in OMO will be tricky.. still thinking of possible solution. Current idea is to convert a backpack (I got a unused big backpack) to a OTA bag and backpack it for transportation.

Have a nice day.

7.5kg should still fine for the GPDX albeit the moment arm of the newt, make sure you balance it well, though. My 7" f/5.5 newt is 40" long, but the focuser was heavy (total weight was almost 20lbs).
