Veil Nebula Mosiac using 10D!!

Post by VinSnr »

Take a look at this :

Image

Simply incredible...

According to the photographer, this is a 4 part 6 x 5min mosiac. Notice how short is the exposre? Yes..only 5 minutes. I am sure even with a normal eq mount, we can try this....

The author has more goodies over at his site here....

eh charlie....do u know that the photographer used a 100mm APO for that photo?

His scope and yours is pretty near.

I am sure you can easily guide 5 min using your GP mount.

Nah...he mentioned all he had was a mag 5 skies. We are not that far off.

But maybe he got good transparencies. Can easily get this in Mersing.

Imagine that all he does is 6 shots of 5 min each. That's not really difficult....because you can take a rest after each shot. Also, he don't have to take them in RGB because the camera itself is colour. Save plenty of time.

But I think he has very good image processing skills. He use Neat Image to tidy up the noises, then IP to process the pictures and then finally Photoshop for further refinements.

Its the Orion Nebula. The gas surrounding the stars are Hydrogen gas excited by the host stars. That makes the 'light spreading'.

VinSnr: Guide for 5min? Sad to say, i have done any serious drift alignment training for myself. But will do soon!
