Hi, I am actually in the process of asking Astrobargains to get this item for me from Scopestuff. I should be able to tell u within 2 weeks if he can bring this item in or not.
Together with the 2" SCT visual back with compression rings, the Maks will expand greatly in versatility.

compression rings is the 'focal length reducer' is it?
how much is the whole set that you're getting? if the price is ok i guess more ppl sharing it can save on shipping

Nope, compression rings *do not* refer to focal reducers.
Eyepiece holders/visual backs usually hold the eyepiece with set screws, which sometimes leave marks on the eyepiece barrel. Better eyepiece holders use a brass C-shaped band to compress and grip on the barrel without leaving marks.
Focal reducers reduce the focal length.

Once you have the SCT male thread at the back of the Mak, then you can use the SCT focal reducer. Of course, since the SCT focal reducer is not made for the Mak, there may be abberations introduced. Pray that all abberations are at the edge
And hopefully there is quite a big field of illumination

Ooops sorry for digging out such an old thread. Last time I actually asked Astrobargains to bring in 3 for me. Yesterday I collected from him. I will need to use one. It works even for Mak 90.
I can let go 2 such adapter rings! Original price is $63.
contact me if you want the ring. Imagine that you can now mount the SCT focal reducer on the Orion Maks now! (less some subtle issues
)

Slightly off topic here..sorry. Will a focal reducer reduces the brightness or degrade the image visually?

ok, if a focal reducer is made dedicated for the scope, then image will be brighter (because the object is now smaller) and will not degrade the image, in fact, most dedicated reducers flatten the field and gives you a flatter view
