Thinking of upgrading to another Nexstar scope so may consider selling this very new (still under warranty) Celestron Nexstar 102 SLT

Nexstar

The Sky Align technology is very easy to use, just choose any three bright stars for alignment. Uses 8AA batteries (not included) or DC power source. Very good for beginners, the goto really works if you've done the alignment properly. For more info please refer to above link for the specs.

The 4" refractor can be removed from the mount and you can mount other scopes (not more than 8 lbs). With this SLT, you can mount a variety of scopes eg C5 ota, 90m Mak, 127mm Mak, Vixen ED80 etc etc.

I'm currently using a C5 OTA with this mount.

Looking to sell at $SOLD for the Nexstar 102SLT complete.
(*Available in two monthly installments if you're a student)

Pics of actual scope. Telrad & Power tank NOT included in the sale.

You can also mount a bino (with right angle plate) to make a GOTO bino system.

For beginners who do not want to know which star is Zubenelgenubi or Pherkad, this set is for you, to see globular clusters, star clusters, emission nebulae and planets!

Yeah thats sounds like me, thats why i need the SkyAlign technology without knowing which star is which. Mounting a bino would be possible and the alignment will not need to be that pinpoint for the bino wider FOV, but with the bino pointing at zenith, i need to be a contortionist.

Ideally the SLT goes well with any short tube refractors, 90mm mak or maximum a C5 ota. There are a few WTS thread for the above scopes to go with the mount (eg KayHeem's Celestron 80mmAPO, ariefm71's Vixen ED80, Meng Lee's Orion 90mm MCT, yanyewkay's SW 127mm Mak etc etc)

Erm.......Hommel...You say can mount the any 8 lbs scope on top. Does it need any sort of modifications or anything of that sort? The mount seems to be like a smaller cousin of the nextstar5 mount, so can it tahan a 4.3kg scope? Btw, how long does a set of rechargeables last on this set, considering that it is used mainly for observing purposes and nothing else eg. astrophoto.....?
