WTS: Telescopes, mount and accessories

Post by Meng Lee »

Guys,

I have a number of things to sell off here as I am guilty of neglecting them for a while. They should be better utilised and I better narrow my focus on this hobby.

1) Filters:
a) Solar filter (Kendrick) for 4 inch telescopes (I think) - $30
b) Baader Solar continuum filter 1.25 inch (no box): $30 [SOLD]
c) Baader Contrast Booster filter 1.25 inch (no box): $30

2) Mounts:
a) Astrotech manual Az-Alt mount (can hold up to 6 inch SCT or Mak, more stable than Porta mount) - $ 250 [SOLD]
b) Vixen GPD2 equatorial mount (in hard case) + small Takahashi Space Boy wooden tripod (with Manfrotto bag) + Skysensor 2000 Goto controller - $ 800

3) Telescopes:
a) Orion 6 inch Intelliscope Push-to dobsonian (mirror needs to be cleaned) + Orion canvas bag - $ 300 [SOLD]
I can help to clean the mirror once I am less busy with work.
b) Skywatcher 6 inch Maksutov (with adhesive mark) + hardcase + Moonlite focuser + dewshield - $ 350 [SOLD]
Story: I tried to modify the Mak but it turned out to be quite a mess. 1) I bought felt from Scopestuff and pasted it inside the tube but accidentally got a tiny bit of adhesive on inside of the objective lens. 2) Then I bought a Mak-SCT adapter from Scopestuff to mount a Moonlite focuser but the adapter got stuck in the focuser. So if you can get the adapter out, you effectively get a SCT Moonlite focuser.

Hi all,

Here is an update and consolidation of the items available:

1) Solar filter (Kendrick) for 4 inch telescopes (I think) - $25 [Reserved]
2) Baader Contrast Booster filter 1.25 inch (no box): $25

3)
a) Vixen GPD2 equatorial mount (head only + 2 counter weights in hard case) - $350 (you can purchase a GOTO system from here: https://astro-gadget.net/gadgets/contro ... /eqstareq5) [SOLD]
b) Small Takahashi Space Boy wooden tripod for vixen mounts (with Manfrotto bag) - $100 [SOLD]
c) Skysensor 2000 Goto controller + 2 motors - to giveaway as it does not work. The controller works but its internal battery is dead and the motors make sound but does not move. [GIVEN]

4) EQ3 mount (head only) modified into a manual AZ mount with slow-mo + orion hardcase (no foam), can hold up to C6 - $70
(You can mount this head onto the Space Boy tripod but it is too low for visual.)

Hello... EQ3 mount modified to AZ. Would it fit the Vixen SXG-S71 tripod? I have MIA so long already - lost touch with all the info. If it can fit - can have a photo ? Thanks

Hi,

Since the Vixen SXG-S71 tripod fits GP2 mount then it should fit EQ3. The "modification" of EQ3 that I did is really simple: I simply turned the mount to latitude to 90 degrees to make it into an AZ mount. I need to go to my storeroom to take an actual picture so it will take a bit of time. Here is the stock picture of EQ3 which is the same black EQ3 as I am selling.

Meng Lee - thanks for explaining. I had a look at the specs and decide not to get it after all.
