Interesting "department scope" manufacturer

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Interesting "department scope" manufacturer

Post by weixing »

Hi,
While I was surfing the internet for "cheap" telescope a few weeks ago, I came across this taiwan(their factory seem to be in China) company call SunLong Optical. They seem to be a "department store" telescope OEM manufacturer, but when I saw that they also have Maksutov Telescope, I was very surprice. So I take a look at what Maksutov do they offer and found out that they got two Maksutov Telescope, MAKSUTOV 90 and MAKSUTOV 130. The best part is their MAKSUTOV 130 look to be exactly the same or at least from the photo and seem to have the same specfication as APM-130. Here is the link: http://www.sunlong.org/b5/photo1/default.asp?catid=43

Also, look at the mounts they got!!   Their EM04A look exactly like a Vixen GP mount and their EM01A look similar to the GM8 at first sight!! Here is the link: http://www.sunlong.org/b5/photo1/default.asp?catid=36

They seem to be cloning everything that is good!!

See.... even "department store" scope manufacturer got something that is totally non-department store style.... :P So don't be surprise if you see a Maksutov telescope on a "Vixen GP" mount selling in Toy R Us.. hee hee... :P

Have a nice day.

Well the APM-130 is actually made in China, so I won't be surprised if 'sunlong' is the OEM manufacturer... :)
