ETX60 Vertical Screw

Post by Kelvin »

Hiya,

For those guys using the ETX60 or ETX series, of AUTOSTAR control. If the vertical locking screw is broken. Will the scope still work ??

Like if i still using the Autostar Motor to control my scope. Will the scope drop ? Despite one missing vertical locking screw ??

Tks

hi kelvin
what do you mean vertical lock broken?
you mean the ota cannot lock in declination?
sounds like the clutch system is not working.
if you don't have spare parts, worse case scenario is you disassemble the ota from the fork mount, put it on a manfrotto 410 head and use it as a normal refractor....

hi kelvin,
saw your photo..as i suspected, the clutch lock is broken..maybe the spindle as well as the pic can't show clearly...
you can try writing a letter to Meade directly to ask if they will send you the spare part...sometimes they are fairly accommodative..

huh ? :!:

the guy told me that buying the vertical locking screw will fix this problem.

Wat is the clutch thing ? He say he broke the vertical locking screw by tighting it too tight.

Anyway. I be visiting him soon. he told me to take a look at the thread too. I calling him tonight.
