Hey Eu-wen,

What's your budget for the tripod ? (if I upgrade my 190D to a Pro or Classic, I may sell the current one to you)

I think the most basic model from Manfrotto is the 190D chrome. Not bad for the price. It's quite solidly built. True Italian craftsmanship.

It costs around S$130 new. I don't think there are any dents anywhere since I've never dropped it. All the knobs on the tripod are working fine.
I had it since the beginning of this year. Anyway, if I do want to sell it, I'll let you come over and see everything for yourself before you decide.

aiyahh..I was at Funan today and tried to call you to see if you wanted me to buy the 410 head and 190 tripod for you but your phone was switched off.
in anycase, don't have too much hope on a much cheaper 410 head. its a very hot item and usually it is sold second hand for at least $380...
The tripod may be better but at $130 , how low do you think it will go?
BTW, you already have the meade tripod, why want to switch?
you are better off making an adapter plate to your meade tripod instead...

The 410 head is not *that* expensive -> S$380.00

A new one cost about S$220 only. But it's true that it is becoming really hard to come by. I asked Cathay recently and they told me they have no idea when new stock for the 410 head is coming in. Dosen't seem like they are willing to push for it too, mainly because hardly anyone else but us local astronomers buy it from them so far !

So it's like everytime we walk in and ask for the 410 head, they'll go "for your telescope ?" or "so what telescope are you using ?" instead of the usual and more proper "so, what camera are you using it with ?"
