Spiky Spica!

Just something frivolous :) Was playing around with Bhatinov mask getting the focus right before moving on to Saturn.
Here's a pic of Spica (the focusing target) with some nice spikes coming out :)

I am sure you know about this already

Bathinov Grabber

The Canon 60D modded has got this feature when aimed at the brightest star.

On the LCD at 10X magnification:

Just out of focus- center small white spot surrounded by a red outer circle

Focus- small white dot

Just in focus- center small white spot surrounded by a red outer circle

Makes focusing so much easier. :D

cheers

Eh, using an un-modded D700 so no such "luxury"
But blowing up the image on liveview does a very decent job to ensure the focus is good :)

kevin, are you using a pre-made bahtinov mask, or you made your own?

Pre-made by Farpoint. Happened to be on offer at the time I bought my Agena 30UWA so I picked one up. (probably just as cheap as DIY but definitely more durable)
