Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
I just got a new CG5 mount. Looks nice.
But I can't get the latitude down to 1° for use in Singapore.
After removing some parts, I got it down to 10°.
So, how do I get this all the way down?
Others use a CG5 here, so there must be a way.
thanks!
BTW, the counter balance weights don't hit the tripod legs, so at least this isn't a problem.
The plastic part of the controller (neat the on/off switch) is hitting the area near the Azimuth Alignment screws.
I don't see how a pier can help if the counter weight is NOT hitting the legs.
It seems like extending the height with a pier won't help since the problem is with the plastic blocking the way. Extending the tripod leg might be the best contemporary solution without breaking the plastic.

I just need to get a half-pier, then change the angle to allow the mount to be used normally. The half-pier will also keep the counter-weights from banging the legs.
Just one thing - careful considerations shall be given for the pier construction since I have heard from some of the users that quite often the pier became the most unstable section of the assembly, thus affecting the tracking capability and loading capacity.
