Although, after going through my images, I think I understand where you are coming from Junwei.
This is a single-frame edit of the Jewel Box I caught last night, and it does image better than the stacked sequences:
My little window...
Re: My little window...
Wooohooo!
Finally tried my hand at something different tonight!
NGC 3372 aka Eta Carinae (or, as I call it, the Independence Day Alien!)
30sec x 39 frames @ ISO800, Canon EOS 1000D (IR-cut filter removed) on Astrotech AT66ED

Re: My little window...
Nice pic. I couldn't take nice pic with DSLR. want to try again.
Re: My little window...
Lol mines far from nice but with your incredible mobile station I'm sure you can!kimo wrote:Nice pic. I couldn't take nice pic with DSLR. want to try again.
Re: My little window...
do you take darks? How do you match CMOS dark Temp with Exposure?
Re: My little window...
Yeah, I usually take Darks, Bias and Flats, at least 1/2 the number of Lights, 100% if time allows, so 20 Light Frames I'd try to get between 10 - 20 Darks, Bias and Flats.kimo wrote:do you take darks? How do you match CMOS dark Temp with Exposure?
Stack them all in DSS, tweak a little of the RGB, Luminosity and Saturation, just a little.
Rest of it is done in Photoshop with Layers, Curves, Levels, Blurs etc.
Re: My little window...
Anyway, going through the Lights for my Eta Carinae, realised a few of them actually had very thin high clouds passing over them, so removed, restacked and re-processed.
Personally, I think this is a better result than the one above:

Re: My little window...
yes nice. why not you add about an hr exposures, it will create decent image of it. I am waiting for testing RGB Imaging tonight but sky still not yet opened.
Re: My little window...
Yeah, I know I should lol. But these days due to work and part-time studies, I'm shooting from my flat and Eta is actually only available for 30 mins in between 2 HDB blocks.kimo wrote:yes nice. why not you add about an hr exposures, it will create decent image of it. Maybe I'll continue to take a few when I can then do a 3rd compilation after I gather more frames.
Btw, I showed my missus your pics and she kept going "Wahhhh! why he can take those u cannot?".......
LOL
Re: My little window...
When a single 30-sec frame gives you this much details, you know you're in for a good night!
