Much thanks to everyone at Sing Astro, particuarly to Gary and Orly, I have taken my baby steps into astronomy, with view of progressing to astrophotography.

I am Kao. 40-something in professional line. Geek to the core. Dabble with astronomy in JC days. Loves big bang theory (the show, conflicted with the theory).

I am unveiling the bits and pieces as they arrive. And documenting my steps (no doubt good for a laugh) as I dive headlong into my new hobby.

First piece of the puzzle (drum roll.....)

Image

20 degree wedge designed by Orly himself and machined to perfection by Mr Khoo. Collected this little gem on 4th August 2011.

The next thing to arrived is

ADM Mini Dovetail System Guidescope Kit.

To be continued.

Cool Kaomoo! Welcome to Singastro!
I can't decide to leave this under "beginners"or move this to "DIY" but lets see what comes next before deciding. Sounds exciting to build your own scope ! At least that's what I think this project is? [smilie=cute.gif]

Cheers!

taken with a 5D MKII, EF70-200mm F/2.8. Time lapsed trigger with DSLR Remote Pro. It was shocking how fast it moved across my field.

Hi Kao. Congrats on your baby steps! In addition to sharing your journey in this forum, you may also want to consider documenting your journey in a journal or blog about it privately/publicly. There will be a lot of firsts coming up in the years to come, especially in the first year of observing and astro-photographing. You can double the fun by mentally re-living such experiences whenever you re-read them for years to come.

Bon Voyage!!

the reading and learning is so steep that I barely have time to post. Besides, my decisions and rationales might be laughable, and edging on whimsical. Hence I just straight to the fun bit. I just check, items are half way through. Suffice to say that the shipment weighs almost 80kg.....
