C8 dovetail shoe screws

Post by enewmen »

Hi all.

On the Celestron C8, it comes with a small finderscope.
What I want to do is replace the finderscope with a standard dovetail shoe. (then I can mount any finderscope)
I already have the dovetail shoe and it's a good match for the C8. (the holes match)

The problem is the screws that hold the finderscope are too short for the dovetail shoe mount. I went to a local hardware store and can't find any long screws that size.

Where in Singapore can I find a LARGE selection of screws?

thanks!

Can try Yong Seng Screws as KK has mentioned. They have a few outlets. Find one that is near to your place:

Best is to bring your OTA and finder foot base along and test on the spot before purchase. Make sure the screws are not too long which may hit the mirror inside your scope. You may want to bring a bright flashlight and shine into the OTA to ensure that. They do not provide any service to cut the screws to a shorter length.

Hi,enewmen
Yes,at yong seng screw, they have almost all that you need except those funny format used by borg.Try to use the stainless steel ones and that eliminates the rust problems by paying a few extra cents.
