Welcome to SingastroWiki! SingastroWiki is a website about Astronomy in Singapore, and a complement to Singastro Forums.
This website is dedicated to the Singapore astronomy community, and not just Singastro. It aims to provide a convenient resource for anyone who wishes to know more about Astronomy, from a Singaporean perspective.
Why have a website about astronomy from a Singaporean perspective?
Singapore is an bright urban city situated on the equator, and a whole generation have never experienced a dark sky. Our cultural knowledge about astronomy is very poor, and when some eventually get interested in the heavens (as everyone is wont to do sometime), the information out there catered to equatorial city dwellers like us is exceedingly rare. This website hopes to allow Singaporeans (and others around the world) to easily know about, and love, the night sky.

What is a Wiki?
A wiki is a website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change available content, and typically without the need for registration. This means that Singastro members can easily help to update, maintain and improve this website without the need of a dedicated webmaster.
Version details
SingastroWiki runs on MediaWiki Ver 1.6.8 and PHP 4.x. MediaWiki is a free software wiki package originally written for Wikipedia. This is a 3rd major upgrade after experimenting with PHPWIKI.
