For me any telescope can be a beginner telescope. As long as ya are comfortable in using the scope it should be ok. Price is not an issue, how long the scope will last is an issue. Whats the use of buying a 4.5" when 1 year later ya find its small? Resale value for such scopes will not be high ...

hmm...how small can they detect the laser signal among all the stars? If a alien race intended for us to recieve the signal, it must have been very advance, directing a ray of light through all the stars, imagine the ray bending here and there :o ! A person needs 8litres of water a day, so for a 21hrs flight they should be able to store the water for thw whole course of the flght...
