Casual Astrophotography
Hey guys, I wanted to share here some of my casual astrophotography. Why casual? Because unlike the experts here, I have no patience for collecting hours of data. I see myself as halfway between visual and imaging - indeed, like at least one other member of Singastro, I was quite interested and invo...

WTB: Celestron C8 OTA
Hi,
Does anyone have a Celestron 8" SCT for sale? Just the regular Nexstar OTA will do. PM me!

Nope. That's NGC1977. Horsehead is probably not going to be quite visible without dark skies or strong filtering. It also lies outside this field. You should look for Alnitak if you want to see the Horsehead.heyjojos wrote:I have a newbie question.. is the top right corner the horse head nebula?

Re: Insights of astronomy hobbyist on star trackers
Maybe I can save you a few weeks' pain. Skywatchers and iOptron both have very popular star trackers for photography use. Smaller alt-az mounts than nex star are also available. Not sure why this is needed.

Re: ASTRONOMY2017 Stargazing: Calling all telescope owners!
Sorry to flake out at this juncture but turns out I can't get anyone to watch my kids tonight so I can't bring my scopes. Honestly, though, given the collection I don't think you'll miss my tiny scopes! See you all later!

Repairing and Tuning Celestron Evolution Mount
I bought a Celestron Evolution 6 off the Buy and Sell section here, and it's had a fraught life, to say the least. It started with a busted internal battery, followed by a complete burn-out of the main board. Recently, I was able to obtain a replacement board for cheap (more on that next time), and ...

Re: Advanced VX 11 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope
It depends heavily on what sort of imaging you plan to do. Amongst the Messier objects the object sizes vary greatly. SCTs may be good for smaller objects (planetary nebulae, small galaxies), but not so much for more expansive objects, e.g. M42. If you are starting out in astro imaging, it is genera...

Re: Astro Video - with security camera
Cool. Which camera do you use? Seems from the video that you were imaging from a dark (cold?) site. Have you tried Video astro in Singapore?
