DIY Scrapyard Eq Platform for Dobs
I had some leftover plywood after making my ultraportable dob, so I decided to build an EQ platform. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4796/40705753362_29cb546a7a_c.jpg 2018-03-11_11-34-47 by Cyrus Beh , on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4775/40705750062_0b87afa8e4_c.jpg 2018-03-11_11-34-24 by C...

Re: Building an 8" Portaball wannabe with Ikea Blanda Bowls
That's mostly due to the camera angle. The top assembly is about the same size as the bowls. In addition, there is a lot of gravel, which helps the balance.

Re: Building a 10-inch F4 Sumerian Alkaid Clone
I did a partial first light Saturday and Sunday nights. Partial, because I had it set up in my living room and just looked at a single region through the window, just to check focus and collimation. I've to say it went better than I had expected. I used a collimation cap to get rough collimation, an...

Re: Building an 8" Portaball wannabe with Ikea Blanda Bowls
Next, I'll describe the UTA. This is a hexagon constructed from Makerbeams and 60 degree brackets (they don't have 120 degree brackets, so I just let the rod slide out the other way). https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4407/37096360382_799063b734_c.jpg Upper tube hexagon by Cyrus Beh , on Flickr As you ...

Building a 10-inch F4 Sumerian Alkaid Clone
So, I kinda went nuts and built a 10" F4 Alkaid clone these past 3 weeks. Here it is: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4784/38772147690_ef9ccba928_c.jpg Fully assembled by Cyrus Beh , on Flickr Only a few things remain to be done, such as touching up the paint, covering the poles with heat-shrink...

Re: Building an 8" Portaball wannabe with Ikea Blanda Bowls
Since he mirror cell has been mounted, so I cannot take any pictures now. Here's a schematic that's probably a bit clearer anyway. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4382/36841410370_3e15a1f00a_c.jpg Mirror Cell by Cyrus Beh , on Flickr The mirror cell is made of three Makerbeams, held together with 60 ...

Re: Storage for telescope to prevent fungus buildup
Might wanna be careful with the thirsty hippo though. They become very wet over time and I accidentally tipped one over and destroyed some lenses when the dissolved calcium chloride came into contact with the optics.

Re: Storage for telescope to prevent fungus buildup
I bought a dehumidifier 3 years ago and placed it in my household shelter. I store my cameras, lenses, telescopes and more valuable books in there. It maintains 50%rh and has for the past few years. No mold problems at all.
