Thanks for the news! It's not that often that a supernova occurs in a Messier galaxy. And the article says this is a Type II supernova, which I regard as 'real' ones since they occur due to something inherent to that star itself.


Haha... 'magic'.... i will probably only manage to image the supernova but not the host galaxy, from Singapore. I leave that to the DSO imagers.

Will try to observe it too with the scope.
