Naked-eye Galaxy Nova (AAVSO Alert Notice 711)

Post by hhzhang »

Apparently bright milky way nova visible to naked eye is relatively rare.

If you have access to pitch dark skies, you may still be able to capture the fading nova with your own eyes.

This early morning ~6AM caught a glimpse of this galaxy nova. Through binocular it looked just shy of the brightness of a nearby mag6.0 star. CCD photometry gave an estimate of mag 6.3.
